Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of very thin single use sterile needles into specific points throughout the body. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to alleviate pain and prevent illness.  A gentle and relaxing method is used here at Natural Point Wellness to help promote healing in a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

What to expect during your first visit

Upon scheduling you will be prompted to fill out the Natural Point Wellness intake forms.
Please take the time to fill out the forms to the best of your ability. There may be questions that don’t seem to pertain to your visit, but please fill out every question so we may best treat you.

Before arriving to your appointment please make sure you have eaten a small snack, especially if you have a morning appointment. Not eating before your appointment may result in dizziness and fainting.

Please arrive to your appointment a few minutes early. Late arrivals may result in a shortened treatment time. Please note: If you fail to give 24-hr cancellation notice and/or no call/no show you will receive a $45 cancellation fee.
Please allow 75 minutes for your first visit.

It is best to wear loose, comfortable clothing that may be rolled up to the knees and elbows.

Your first appointment. Your first visit takes longer than follow-ups because we want to get to know you, your health history, your goals, and to understand how we may best individualize a treatment plan to suit your concerns. During the initial assessment, we will check your pulse and examine your tongue; two methods used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to confirm your diagnosis.  Following your consultation, you will have a full Acupuncture treatment.

Once the Acupuncture needles are in, you will be resting on the table for approximately 25 minutes. Movement while the needles are in place may cause muscle pain; lying still and allowing total body relaxation is best for healing.

Post-treatment. Treat yourself to rest and relaxation. Do not plan vigorous or demanding tasks following your Acupuncture session. Eat a healthy snack and drink plenty of water to rehydrate.

Between visits please take note of any changes that may have occurred, such as the alleviation of symptoms, symptoms moving to other areas of the body, or any developments in the condition(s) being treated.
